The Freedom Exchange

Many song titles and hooks are not concrete ideas or concepts like those discussed above. Antonyms are very often employed with great success, such as ?Sleeping single in a double bed?. Wordplay has brought us some of the most memorable hooks; country songs very often use them to great advantage. ?I gave her the ring, she gave me the finger? is one of my all time favorites. And if all else fails as a creative songwriter you are free to make words up. Like I did in this song:

Well a ding dang dodie and a woof woof woof
the frost is on the pine.
Momma?s in the kitchen doing the dishes
but it don?t make me no mind.

Good to see you out there.

Never know with online friends whether everything's ok when you don't see them around.

Hey Tom and jt. Welcome Seems like it's been so long since I've been online. Been badly depressed over the Bears season of futility.  eusa_doh

Life has been very strange lately. I lost my best friend to cancer recently. But at the memorial service I reconnected with a friend I hadn't seen in 25 years. The three of us had been in a band those many years ago and for some reason had split up. But it's been great getting together again. He was always a very good songwriter and has become an excellent musician as well. Kinda helped kick start me into playing more.

Life is good and getting better.

Wow, looking at the posts I see it HAS been a long time since I wrote something new.  Well someone kicked the muse in the butt and this is what we've got.  A rockin and rollin little break up song:

Long Hot Summer

A/C's broken, and the fan's burnt out
Trying to find shade in a shadow of doubt
Tired of running round while I unwind
The truth's right there, but I've gone blind

It's the long hot summer of my decline
Spending all my time dividing yours from mine
Should have known better than to say "I do"
But who could resist...
The temptations of a girl like you

Sitting on my porch bathed in sweat
Just ticking off a list of my regrets
Swearing to myself I'd never do it again
But I know it's more a matter of where and when

Should I feel anger, should I feel pain
Should I feel like crying like a pouring rain
Can I let you go, can I move on
Can I get lost, in another heartbreak song

It's the long hot summer of my decline
Spending all my time dividing yours from mine
Should have known better than to say "I do"
But who could resist...
The temptations of a girl like you

Since I heard the news of you running around
The temperature's been risin'...
But I'm feeling down, down, down

It's the long hot summer of my decline
Spending all my time dividing yours from mine
Should have known better than to say "I do"
But who could resist...
The temptations of a girl like you

Our A/C is out of action.  Fortunately it hasn't been bad down here.

Then again people lived for a long time before A/C.  We're spoiled.

Hey, I check in and here's an Old Dan song and video to help me cool off on a hot day.

Nice work guys.
thanks Tom, it was a blast making it.

It's really cooled down here - the high today was 70, I can live with that. Welcome

Great job on the video, Dan.  yaaa!!!!  I loved some of your effects... eg. the dove flying across the snow, and the cool fades.

Also, mucho kudos to you and Les on the music.  All in all, a very enjoyable watch and listen.

Thanks for sharing it.

Thanks JT, I appreciate it. Les and his wife Kathy liked it too. I'm going to have to do more. Smile
